We’re back at it, guys. Stereotypes, volume 2.

A little over a year ago, I wrote a post called ‘8 Writer & Bookish Stereotypes.’ To be blunt, it was terrible. Awful. It deserves to be buried under my TBR, because we all know once you’re at the bottom of the TBR pile, you’re never coming back. You catch my drift.

However, the number of bookish stereotypes is much greater than eight, and it’d be a shame not to take advantage of that fact. So, here we are with eight more bookish stereotypes, plus another bookish survey to debunk or approve the common assumptions. There are some books that grab you by the shoulders and never let you go.

Today, I present to you one of those books: A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G Drews. While I’m about 923982784 years late to the party, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to fangirl about my kids Beck and Joey and scream ‘READ IT’ from the rooftop. Not like I don’t do that already. *guilty coughing*

Why am I so enthusiastic about this book?? Well, here is the Quick Summary Of Why I Am Obsessed With This Book™ — music, sad bois, CAKE, brilliant writing, and the fact that it will crush your heart, soul, and all hopes of finishing your TBR. Because you will reread immediately, and not regret a minute of it.

SO. With all that being said, I think it’s time to review the book! Per usual, there are no spoilers here, so don’t worry if you haven’t read the book quite yet. Let’s get to it!

Now, this isn’t a fact I’d bring up without the genius of Miss Olivia from Purely Olivia. This lovely soul of a blogger combined two of my favorite things — books and music — to make the Wonderstruck Tag! Basically, we’re going to take prompts from some of Taylor’s greatest hits and highlight our favorite (and least favorite 😳) books.

REVIEW: the blood race by k.a. emmons // ft. ACTUALLY GOOD strong female characters !!!

From the moment I heard about The Blood Race, I was ready to go. Take my money; I wanted the book.

The very first thing I noticed was that it was by one of the Emmons sisters, both of whom are big influencers in the blogging community. I am a huuuuge fan of both Abbie and Katie’s blog… so when I found out about Katie’s book, I bought it. Then I read it. Then I loved it so much, I sat down and wrote a review.

I rated The Blood Race four stars, and I’m going to spill the tea on first what made me want to give it five stars, and then why it didn’t quiiiite make it there. This is 100% spoiler-free, so if you haven’t read it yet you’re still invited to this squee-filled review! Let’s get started, then!

The new year is a time for making goals, and subsequently posting them to all social media accounts.

If you’re around me any time after Christmas and before the new year, you’ll know that I’m all for this goal-setting, resolution-making time. Everyone’s so motivated and hopeful and positive and I just live for that sort of thing. And, of course, I jump on all the goal-making bandwagons, especially the ones involving BOOKS!

In my last post, I talked about my favorite books from 2018, but instead of talking about the books I want to read like I did last year, I’m going to talk about the kinds of books I’d like to read. Call it my tbr new year’s resolution list, my bookish goals, whatever, but these are the genres and types of books I’m going to make an effort to read this year.

It’s the last week of 2018, and you know what that means. Yep, it’s time for the end-of-the-year list post avalanche.

There have to be a million of these post flooding the internet (in fact, I’m halfway convinced it’s now a meme to do an end-of-the-year-list post?). But does the fact that everyone else is doing the same post as me stop me in a chance to fangirl about books?

No. No it does not.

It’s been a… well, let’s just say, an interesting year of reading. Ever since I started WWF, I wanted to read more popular books to merge into the community: Percy Jackson and Harry Potter, Warcross, The Selection. But, in that splurge of popular books, I’m finding the ones that truly matter to me, and many aren’t all too talked about. Next year, my list is probably going to look drastically different, but for now, enjoy my top ten from 2018!

As a writer and bookworm, I read books with an eye for style, creativity, and risk.

Though some say reading judgementally isn’t enjoyable, I think it’s awesome to take an educated approach to the stories we read. As a writer, it’s something to embrace even more, right? If we see another author make a mistake, we can avoid those pitfalls in our own books. It’s kinda how learning works!

One of my favorite things to find in a book is an author not only being a good writer, but being a RiSkY one. I love an author that isn’t afraid to break some rules, pave new paths, and be a general writing BOSS. Plus, watching other authors try new things is so inspiring! Because they could fail. They could flop and get bad reviews and be thrown into the fire to be kindling.

For that reason, we gotta #respect the risks taken by authors, especially in a genre so competitive and crazy as YA. There are some particular risks, though, I really enjoy reading, so I contacted Olivia @ Purely Olivia to ask if she would collaborate with me. We bookdragons love the library.

Why wouldn’t we? I mean, it’s an incredible selection of books for absolutely no cost (unless, you know, you don’t turn it in on time). Seems like the perfect deal to me! I’ve even written a post about the glory of the library and why it should NEVER EVER DIE.

But, dream with me for a minute. Once in a while, we just really want a book that doesn’t have bent flaps or random scribbles or pages stained with unknown fluids. We want a book that is clean and beautiful and ALL OURS PLEASE. How cool would it be to have all those pretty books on one shelf??? cough @paperfury cough

Unfortunately, neither you nor I can spend all our money on these little paper treasure troves.* We need more than just the tears we cry after the death of our favorite characters to survive. So, logically, the only solution we have is to… get CHEAP OR FREE BOOKS.

I am in love with a place called the library.

Stepping into a library is like entering a new universe. It’s a place where books are respected and revered, where stories and imagination are encouraged. There’s a tense silence in the air that melts away when you open a book and get immersed in its world.

So I was surprised when I learned how few people actually like the library. Apparently, only 19% of Americans read for fun (and that number is dwindling). Is the library becoming extinct with the lack of readers and increase of digital reading? Why should we even have libraries around in 2018??

We’re going to decide together whether libraries are necessary to keep around as we examine the highs and lows of our favorite book temples. I present to you: the pros and cons of public libraries!

12 Squeal-Worthy Books To Read Before Summer Ends

My favorite part about summer has to be the extra reading time.

What little bookworm can resist the thought of summer? Imagine it — there are now whole days free in your schedule where you can simply lie on the floor of your room, watching the rays of the summer sun reflect off your coffee mug and warm the off-white pages of the book in your hands. Summer.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the summer I was expecting this year, and I didn’t get as many awesome free days as I’d hoped. Nevertheless, I picked up every book I could find and read all that I could. Summer’s almost over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t squeeze in a few last-minute reads.

If you’ve already finished your summer TBR list (or you didn’t make one in the first place, that’s okay too), I’ve compiled a list of 12 out-of-this-world books to read before we head back to school next month. And, in my not-so-humble opinion, these are some of the best books ever.
